The Caribou ATV Club, established in 2006 by Cathy Bouchard-Martin, John Morrill, and Richard Lagasse, looks for ways to improve the recreational activity in its area. The club's goal is to "Connect Caribou with the County."
The club acquired its base trail, Bouchard/Guerrette Trail, which travels north from the B&A Trail rail bed to the Emond Road ending at the Caribou/Connor town line, in 2006. In July 2006, through the work of members Marcel, Nancy Bosse, Joseph Ginish, and Karen St. Peter, the club opened the Limestone Connector Trail, connecting from the B&A Trail rail bed east to the Sawyer Road and the Borderline ATV Club trails.
With the aid of Superintendent Kathy Mazzuchelli of the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department, who obtained a municipal grant and permission from the City of Caribou Council to use public ways as ATV accesses, the development of the Lagasse Connector Trail was started at the Otter Brook Park & Ride Trailhead in September 2007. After two years, the completion of the Lagasse Connector Trail was done with the Lagasse/Duncan Bridge placed at the Caribou Stream Boat Launch and the Patten Street ramp built at the Fort Street Bridge to connect to the Canadian Pacific Trail, maintained by Star City ATV Club, on the east side of the Aroostook River. The extension of the Lagasse Connector Trail from Lower Lyndon Street west to York Street and the Aroostook Valley Trail System was successfully completed by Richard Lagasse in the summer of 2008.
